People love getting back to basics and survival/bushcraft courses are proving very popular to a wide audience. We’ve taken it a step further and designed a unique challenge: 24 Hour Survival Experience.
This event is available at our base in the heart of the Wicklow Mountains.
We meet on day one, typically a Saturday and the group get briefed on the challenge ahead: survive for the next 24 hours in the wilderness with no tents! The first part of their challenge is a series of workshops where they will learn essential skills they’ll need to get through the challenge:
Once all workshops are completed the group start their trek to reach high camp, a remote and wild site in the mountains. This is not a difficult walk and takes about 1 hour. When they reach here, their first priority will be to build shelters and start their fire.
Ration packs are issued to all participants and they prep a tasty camp dinner before sitting around the campfire for stories. Participants bed down for the night in their shelters.
Next morning we break camp after breakfast. We leave nothing behind and return the campsite to the way we found it before descending back down to our start point and our journey home.
All specialist equipment and food is included in the above prices for our 24 Hour Survival Experience.
You’ll need to bring lunch for the first day, a drink and dress for the weather, old clothes are recommended.
March through to October works very well. It’s best to avoid the height of summer as the long evenings and good weather can take away from the challenge.
Anyone aged 16-18 must have an adult to accompany them and share a shelter.
Participants will need to bring:
>Lunch for the first day
>Sleeping bag
>Sleeping mat
>Rainwear
>Headtorch
>Toiletries etc
>Bowl, cup etc
>Basic first aid kit
Yes, you certainly can.
This experience is run from our base just outside the village of Laragh, in Co. Wicklow.
This experience is less about the physical challenge and more about learning cool new skills.
